Another experiment with the Moog Mother 32 is worth mentioning.
If I have the opportunity to use an arpeggiator or sequencer, I try to use it to create one atmospheric, varying 'tone', by for example having the tempo on the fastest or the slowest setting, and then further process it in a chain.
I was after some high frequency content, that would glimmer around like a cloud of butterflies or birds, yet have a synthetic and melodic quality to it.
I found this kind of sound with the Mother 32 by sequencing a melodic pattern on the fastest mode. I would then chain it into an outboard EQ ( Avalon VT-747SP) and compressor (Distressor, which I bypassed after all), then into a digital delay (TC Electronics D-Two) and last but not least, Eventide's multi effects reverb/delay pedal, which is absolutely lovable (..there is a plugin version of one of the algorithms, Blackhole.. if you can't afford this analog pedal).
This combination lead into various textures that were close to what I was going for. Here is a video of what is sounded like. Apologies about the quality, but I hope you get the idea.
Kiitos ja hei,
