Suvi-Eeva Äikäs is a Bristol based Finnish composer and music producer. Her compositional style is rooted in sonic exploration through found sound, self-made objects and instruments, and electroacoustic practises using instruments such as voice, jouhikko and woodwinds. 

 

She has worked on multiple projects spanning smaller independent films to large scale TV series. Her work can be heard on the Sky TV-series Under Salt Marsh, directed by Claire Oakley, starring Kelly Reilly and Rafe Spall, Constellation for Apple TV+, Alberto Corredor’s Baghead starring Jeremy Irvine, Saffron Burrows and Peter Mullan(Soundtrack out on Invada Records), Hulu’s Matriarch, directed by Ben Steiner and starring Jemima Rooper and Kate Dickie, the short film Thy Name Is Woman for which she received a Best Composer nomination at Underwire Film Festival and FEMME which premiered at SXSW Festival, written and directed by Ng Choon Ping and Sam H. Freeman, and starring Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You). She has scored three episodes of Amazon’s Hanna as well as working with Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow on all three series of Hanna, the Julius Onah directed film Luce and Alex Garland’s MEN and award winning series Devs. She has also composed music for the Finnish radio theatre(Yle) and art galleries(Gerhard Richter exhibition in Plymouth and Arktisk by artist Emily Powell) and co-created a virtual reality installation with Pretty Disturbed(Showcase at the Watershed, Bristol).
